Hi, I’m Courtney
I’m a Chicago-based journalist with experience in reporting (both for digital and radio), editing, social media, newsletter writing, digital production, teaching, and launching and leading digital-first projects.
I like to tell stories about a wide range of subjects. I’ve reported on street sweeping in Chicago; FOIA in Illinois; park rangers in Atlanta; civil rights in Selma, Alabama; aging farmers in Chippewa County, Wisconsin; and historic snowstorms in Washington, D.C.
My work has appeared in outlets like the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Minneapolis Star Tribune; on the airwaves (and websites!) of NPR and member stations like WBEZ and WABE; in a book from the Wisconsin Historical Society Press; and in an exhibit at the National Voting Rights Museum and Institute.
I’m a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s journalism program, where I am now an associate lecturer, and have a graduate degree in social justice and investigative reporting from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
More of my work can be found here.
